Apple is adding a new battery management feature to the Apple Watch as part of its upcoming watchOS 26 update. The enhancement will alert users when the wearable’s battery drains faster than usual and provide immediate options to conserve energy.
First reported by 9to5Mac, the system monitors individual usage habits over time and compares them to current power consumption patterns. When deviations are detected—such as reaching 50 per cent battery earlier than expected—it will notify users and offer direct access to power-saving tools like Low Power Mode.
The feature relies on personalized data rather than standard metrics. That means any unexpected battery drops caused by changes in behavior, like increased GPS use or unstable cellular signals, could trigger the alert.
The notification not only signals higher-than-average drain but also includes a shortcut to activate battery-saving settings. Apple aims to minimize disruptions by giving users more control without needing to navigate through multiple menus.
Alongside battery intelligence, Apple is also rolling out several other updates:
* Liquid Glass UI: A new interface design, featuring semi-transparent visuals, will be introduced across supported apps and widgets.
* Workout Buddy: Powered by Apple Intelligence, this tool uses live sensor data to offer real-time feedback and motivational messages. It highlights personal records and allows users to mute voice guidance if desired.
* Smart Stack Upgrades: The widget system will incorporate context such as time and location to surface relevant information.
* Workout App Redesign: A refreshed layout adds corner-based buttons and integrates playback controls for music and podcasts.
watchOS 26 is in developer testing and will reach general users this fall. The update supports Apple Watch Series 6 and later, including Ultra and second-generation SE models.
